 5/9/09 Ressies v Bembridge
Match ReportsClick on 'read more'

The ressies opened their comb 2 campaign against a hapless Bembridge side that never really tested us. After a wobbly 10 mins or so the ressies settled into the game and pressed the Bembridge goal. Wanrob, Richie and Steven were causing them problems, but the finished article wasn't quite there until Eddie blasted a beauty of a cross which found Wanrob for the tap in. Five minutes later some fine play from Monkey Hammond & Dave Chiv forced a corner. The corner was cleared but a lobbed cross from Steve fooled the under pressure goalie and he tipped it backwards into his own net. In the second half the defence of Skipper Sweaty, Big Stu, Ant and Nick held their lines strong and dealt with any threats. Another corner led to the third goal as Sweaty came up for it and nodded home over a crowd of players. A short spell of poor play ensued where we lost our shape but it was soon put right. Wanrob made way for Dave Hayles who was eager to impress and a short while later Nick made way for Dan Baker. Both substitutes worked hard and fitted in brilliantly, with Hayles scoring the final goal from a well worked breakaway. So it finished 4-0 to the Burg with a fine clean sheet from Bean and a treat from his missus so I understand!! Althouth it was a resounding win, we know we are going to get a lot harder games. But if the players listen to the managers and do the jobs they are asked then I promise that there will be many more victories.
