31/10/09 IW Div 3 BEMBRIDGE 0 COBURG 7 (J Moody 4, Parkman 2, D Moody)

In typical style so far this season the Burg left it until the second half before convincingly beating Bembridge. We started off shaky and Bembridge got the better of the early exchanges, but never really looked threatening in the final third, due to solid defending from Spiersy, Malc, Chalky and Ben. At times we passed well, but mre often that not there was not enough movement and the play was slow and lacked the final ball. We were unlucky not to be awarded two penalties, one for a blatant handball, and one for three fouls on Jamie in a row in the box. We broke the deadlock eventually after a lucky deflection bounced into the path of JAMIE MOODY, who slotted past the keeper in off the far post. Towards the end of the half we started to get a grip, and some quick passing from Dan Storey, and Sam McCluckie caused the Bembridge defense a few problems on several occasions. Still though we lacked the final ball, as Bembridge were sitting deep and snuffed out all further attacks. Not much else happened other than Spiersy was stamped on for no reason by a frustrated striker who just couldn't beat the defense, and Mr Chairman floored the Bembridge captain for some reason when he was trying to take a throw, almost sparking a riot. The introduction of Levi at half time made a big difference in the second half, and within minutes some superb control in the middle of the pitch followed by a defense splitting through ball to the onrushing JAMIE MOODY, who made no mistake, firing past the keeper from the edge of the box. This moment seemed to inspire the entire team, and Baker and Dan Moody got a grip and won every ball in the centre of the pitch, even pulling off several flicks that ex-captain Bradley could only dream of. It wasn't long before a third opportunity arose and after bursting through in the box Dan Moody was chopped down. With no option the ref blew for a penalty. Unfortunately Jamie Moody faile to convert for his hat-trick, the keeper making a save to his left to deny the striker. Still we pushed on and Ash Moul continued some excellent work on the left before crossing to the unmarked LEVI PARKMAN, who flicked the ball into the empty net. Shortly after Spiersy took on about 3 players 3 times each before deciding to eventually loft a through ball to LEVI PARKMAN, who controlled and finished at the near post. Still wanting more we pushed the Bembridge back line, and it paid off after a quick throw by Shane Hammond was knocked on by Levi Parkman to JAMIE MOODY who took on his marker and finished well for his hat trick. Shortly after a cross fron the left wing was flicked on by Levi Parkman to Shane Hammond who unselfishly squared to DAN MOODY, who smashed in from 6 yards. With not long left to play Levi again beat the offside trap and looking like he was going to shoot and score a spectacular goal from 40 yards, he tricked the opposition by firing a square ball into the path of JAMIE MOODY who bagged his fourth goal of the game. All in all the first half we battled hard, and were kept in the game by some excellent defending, and the second half we got control and dominated from start to finish. Every played put a lot of effort in and everyone deserves a mention. Lets keep this momentum going and win this division and the three cups. NOTHING LESS WILL DO!
